Originally made for an exhibition at the BCA Gallery, Bedford in 2005 'Tower' includes photographs of each of the twelve floors of the vacated BT Tower in Bedford. Like many other large buildings advances in technology have meant that the structure is no longer required to provide the function for which it was designed. These photographs were taken when this telecoms tower was waiting to be transformed into the luxury apartments that it is today, with traces of the building's past visible in the faded carpets and tangled wires - a last glimpse at the tired office spaces, canteens and boardrooms. Remade specifically for 'Concrete Dreams' at the APT Gallery, London the photographs are displayed as a column from floor to ceiling of the 5 meter high gallery. |
